Phew! That was some heavy stuff!

I hope you found yesterday's post on different ways humans make moral decisions interesting. It is clear that people in the world have different ideas of what constitutes moral, ethical and just based on their approach. I'm thinking the more effective ones elicits comparable results. But after that heavy stuff a change in pace is in order! Where do we go from here?

I don't know about you but I could use some joy! Dark chocolate makes me happy for about 30 seconds, but I am talking about something deeper and of a different quality. Hmmm. Our cats bring me joy. They have their own personalities and do silly things or meow at you as if they are actually telling you something or asking a question. The changes in pitch, volume and tone quality are so fun to hear. It's crazy but at the same time gives you such a warm feeling. It kind of feels like you are connecting with this soul that just likes being with you. Yeah, that could just be because you give them food, but I don't think so.

It brings me warm joy when my piano playing connects with people. My chest cavity feels like it gets bigger with lots of space and a feeling of lightness. I am so happy when my music serves whatever needs they have inside them. Making music for myself feeds my soul, too. When my tone or musicianship sounds good in my ears it makes my heart pump a little faster and something swirls around inside me. It's a great feeling!

Sharing a laugh with my kids or husband over something funny brings joy. Yes, we can laugh on our own and it's happy and fun, but sharing that laugh adds something special. Maybe it's the connection of two people having the same emotion at the same time.

My joy seems to revolve around connecting with other souls or making something beautiful. Did you notice that, too? It's renewing and rejuvenating. It lifts whatever load we carry with us long enough that we can take a breath. Then we are ready to go on with whatever we need to do in this world. What gives you joy? Give yourself the gift of joy today or whenever you feel the need. Then we can figure out where we go from here.
