Leadership Through Egoism

An egoist is going to do exactly what you think. Egoism is making choices based solely on self-interest. It is entirely about the individual with absolutely ZERO thought about anyone else. This goes against the whole purpose of morals which is to create a workable society that ensures the continuation of the species. If all individuals acted solely in their best interest with no regard to anyone around them it results in...well...basically like the United States is right now.

Currently in the U.S., the executive branch of the government has created a hostile situation for immigrants and LGBTQ+. Every agency is being invaded by a private citizen who has not been vetted nor confirmed and controls the activities of an agency not created nor approved by Congress. Funds are being withheld illegally. Large swaths of employees are being fired with zero oversight and no sense of the needs of the agency. Non-government workers who have not been hired, background checked or under an approved contract have been given complete access to any and all computer systems with zero oversight or accountability to the American people. In essence, a couple of billionaires plus friends are doing whatever they want, wherever they want, to whomever they want with zero interference or pushback from the GOP legislatures that currently control the House and Senate. The courts have been able to put a wrench in the plans to a certain extent but it's a time-consuming process.

The purpose of morality is to create a stable society that works to lessen harm to its members and facilitate cooperation. Trust is an important character trait with the membership. Egoism, what we see in top levels of government currently does not and will not lead to a healthy society. Perhaps the saddest part is the support that still remains for what is being done. Because it is what they say they want. Why? It seems they think it will mean more money for themselves. More egoism. Yet the tax cuts proposed are for the rich. Of course, they are because EGOISM is the framework for decision-making by the administration.

There is a large set of the population that sees the path we are on and are ANGRY! I remain optimistic that little by little more will reach the point where they can no longer make excuses to approve what they see happening. The lightbulb with shine and the ugliness will be revealed. Meanwhile, the populace hasn't yet asked the question, "Will the people have to fight to get their country back from the small set that have taken it over entirely for themselves?" Will that be where we go from here or can we turn it around before it gets to that point? At what point does egoism backfire and the push back brings it to a halt?
